| 🗣️ Sharing The History of Your Experiences 🗣️ |
|
| | 🎭 Adding “LIFE” To Your Words 🎭 |
|
|
Over the years… or rather, decades… I’ve directed hundreds of projects and thousands of clients. The most common thread I hear missing from a performance is how the message connects to their personal history. Telling a story isn’t enough. The history of WHY we share a message is the connecting thread between WORDS and REALITY.
AI voices cannot replicate our unique life experiences and how we feel about those people, places, and moments. That’s what gives us our unique point of view. There’s only one YOU!
So, why is it so hard to share our POV? |

🗺️ There’s History in Your Words and Language
Every message isn’t just communication; it’s a snippet of life, a memory captured, and a piece of a personal story being written and preserved for time. These pieces of personal history provide: Context: Who, What, Why, When, Where Content: Emotions, Personality, Intent Impact: How they’re Used, Saved, or Interpreted
Share Tangible Evidence of Your Life Journey
Quit using generalities or made-up moments to give words meaning and emotional depth. That approach can only provide ‘Mood.’ Dig deeper inside you to be more specific. Every script we read or speech we give must be ‘Time-Stamped’ at a specific moment or series of specific moments in order to resonate with both ourself and our audience.
👓 Look Inside Your Memories
Emotions play a role in ‘Encoding’ information, ‘Consolidating’ memories, and ‘Recalling’ experiences at a later date. When figuring out what is the most important moment or what historical event in your life connects emotionally to the script or speaking engagement, consider these emotional accessibility locations: History: Words, Language, Vocabulary Family: Situations, Events, Moments Connections: Friends, Acquaintances, Co-Workers Experiences: Travel, Planning, Unexpected Moments

SOVAS, BRAVA, and ANGELS IN BRISTOL 🪽
There’s something extra special when a collaborative effort is recognized. Last summer I was hired by Melissa Thom, CEO of The Bristol Academy of Voice Acting (BRAVA) to teach an in-person character voice-over class. I decided to write an original Film Noir script based in Bristol, UK incorporating post WWII historical references. The morning of the class, we collaboratively cast the parts and rehearsed the scenes. After lunch, I directed and recorded each actor in the studio. Upon my return to the San Francisco/Bay Area, I edited, mixed, and mastered ANGELS IN BRISTOL.
🏆 Melissa, the cast, and I are proud to be nominated for a SOVAS award for Outstanding Audio Drama – Ensemble Cast – Best Voice Actors. Voice Actor: A Full Cast Title: Angels in Bristol Additional Credits: Director/Producer: Melissa Thom; Author/Voice Director/Audio Engineer: Elaine A. Clark
Win or lose, I couldn't be more proud of the actors and what they achieved in one day! In addition to being an exceptional learning experience, it was a labor of love, focus, creativity, and team effort. |

| The History of You 🫵🏼
Look inside your memories to find life experiences that are: Good & Bad Exceptional & Mundane Adventurous & Boring Active & Passive Successes & Failures Bonding & Isolating Happy & Sad
Identifying the emotional tone of the message will help you connect with specific stories in your life that best illustrate that shared condition.
Don’t think about a part of your life to connect with emotionally. Let your subconscious do the work so that emotional story comes to you! |
