Not everyone thinks the way we do. (Go figure… right?!) Business and personal relationships often have different Points of View. It’s great when everyone gets along and difficult when POVs clash. |

In business, there are two distinct perspectives: • Founders are visionaries, groundbreakers, and pioneers. • Secondary owners are reorganizers, optimizers, and settlers.
Business pioneers blaze new trails, develop relationships, establish company standards and practices, and build their business’s reputation. Follow up management rides on that reputation and has a choice of either supporting the original vision or going in a different direction. |

| Business & Life Differences
While most people hope for a smooth transition between those different POVs, that doesn’t always happen. Long-time customers, clients, friends, and personnel often prefer the old style. While others who haven’t experienced that history and those established relationships are more accepting of the new style. |

Expectations + Disappointments = Change
Change isn’t always easy. Most people get into business and personal relationships with high hopes. That was certainly the case for me when I sold the training division of my 32-year old business to a former student. While the love of the company was mutual, our styles and experiences couldn’t be more different. My hopes and expectations were met with a series of disappointments. Fortunately, the 5-year buy out that began on January 1, 2019 ended at the end of December 2023. (Yeah me!) |

Time to Change Direction |
|
There is valuable info in Pickard’s book. Here are my two main takeaways.
Specific events or people can trigger and release a person’s Shadow Belief - resulting in a sudden change in that person’s reasoning pattern and behavior.
When a person is miserable and unhappy, it’s the body’s message to leave the familiar behind and take a leap of faith into the unknown. |

Strengths & Weaknesses |
 |
You owe it to yourself to take a moment to reflect on your life and career. Make a list of your Strengths and Weaknesses. Write down what’s working. Purge or Improve what’s not. Set new and achievable Goals.
